The following are actual stories/letters from fans about their encounters with Eri.
(story told to me by a Thai Eri fan)
Eri bargaining with the batik woman
An Eri fan from Thailand got to talk on the phone to the little lady who sold Eri the batik cloth skirt in her Love Hello DVD. The lady described Eri as being very pretty who's always smiling and has nice skin. She also recalled that there were many staff members following Eri but only 2 of them were women. And if you remember, Eri bargained with the lady to buy the skirt for only 200 baht. Later on the staff gave the woman a 1000 baht tip.

Thank you so much for your letter and for coming to the concert. I loved Happy Night. I was my first time hearing it sung live, but I really liked it. I want to sing live again. I saw your birthday message *heart* *heart* Thank you very much!! I was so happy.
I'm sad that Abe-san has graduated, but I'll do my best in the 14 member Morning Musume. Sakuragumi concerts are just beginning again, and I think it will be nice to grow into myself. *star* *smile*
When I received your and other fans' messages of encouragement, I always think, "I'm really going to do my best!" *laugh* I'm filled with happiness and incentive. Well then, please keep supporting Morning Musume! *heart*

A Korean fan's story of her encounter with Eri and Reina on the street. (circa April 2006)
Wow wow, today I went to a pizza buffet 'cause it's my day off from work. I went to sunshine city and bought 1000yen shoes. I was heading home when I saw two very familiar faces. Oh!!! It's Tanaka Reina and Kamei Eri of Morning Musume!!! Wow!!! The two of them were talking on the street. My friend and I glanced at them as we passed by. My friend asked, "Aren't they from Morning Musume?" So I looked around, and took a few pictures of them from far away. And then I got the courage to walk up and talk to them. I figured if I'm lucky I might even get their autographs. Since they were talking in front of the movie theatre, decided to catch them before they went into the theatre.
I asked carefully. "Um..excuse me..you guys are..Eri-chan and Tanaka-san of Morning Musume...right?"
They answered, "Yes.."
"Hi! I'm your fan from Korea!" I said.
"Oh hi!"
"Could I take a picture with you?"
"Oh, we're sorry but the company told us not to do that."
"Then an autograph?" I asked.
"Sorry, that's against the policy too."
*sigh*
And then Eri-chan said, "But we can shake hands! Would you like to shake hands?"
"Really? Thank you!"
And when we shook hands, Eri-chan said "Sorry, my hand is a bit cold..."
"..Oh no that's okay!" I replied. "Thank you~!!"
And then I went home really happy. Oh, I was so touched! Even though I couldn't get an autograph, Eri's voice when she asked "Would you like to shake hands?" Kyaa~! She sounds exactly like she does on TV. So cute! Her face was so small, and they were so cute! I couldn't stop smiling on my way home!
